During the Coronavirus outbreak, people are hoarding household items like toilet paper and bleach wipes. There is no reason to be stockpiling these things because the supply chain is strong and stores continue to get stocked. However, there are other useful supplies for quarantine that you should have on hand to make your time staying at home easier.
Non-Perishable Foods
During this pandemic, essential businesses like grocery stores remain open. However, it is important to limit your trips out of the house so that you reduce your chances of contracting and spreading the virus. To lessen your trips to the grocery store, have plenty of non-perishable and frozen food on hand. Your trips to the grocery store should be few and far between to reduce your time out of the house.
Purified Water
While there is no reason why your water supply should be interrupted, it is a good rule of thumb to have a few gallons of purified water stored away, even during normal times. Municipal water can be interrupted for many reasons, and in these uncertain times it could take longer to rectify the problem. Be ready for any emergency by having 3 gallons of water for every family member.
Paper Towels are Useful Supplies for Quarantine
Like toilet paper, there is no reason to hoard excessive amounts of paper towels. Even so, it is still a good idea to have some extra paper towels for a few reasons. One reason is that you may want to spend the free time you have at home deep cleaning the house. Also, at this point you may have trouble finding sanitizing wipes at the store, but you can make your own by soaking paper towels in rubbing alcohol and keeping them in a ziplock bag.
First Aid Kit
Every household should have a first aid kit, but it is even more important during a pandemic. Make sure your first aid kit is stocked up with over-the-counter medicines, bandages, antibacterial ointment, antihistamines, bite cream, burn cream, and medical tape. You never know what will happen while you are spending more time at home.
Cleaning Supplies for Quarantine
Deep cleaning the house is a great way to spend your newfound free time while stuck at home. Invest in a new mop if yours is old and dingy. Have all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, tile cleaner, toilet cleaner, microfiber cloths, sponges, and other cleaning supplies. You’ll be able to knock out your spring cleaning more easily when you have all the right supplies.
